Aim. The paper aims to identify promising pedagogical techniques in teaching experts in active tourism. Materials and methods. Pedagogical examination of 16 tourism educational programs of large Russian universities and colleges was carried out; a method of qualitative content analysis and a 3-level ordinal coding scale clearly demonstrate low compliance of programs with the goals of teaching experts with entrepreneurial competencies. To identify competence deficit, the topics of scientific and practice-oriented events (2018-2020), as well as expert interviews were studied. The experience of 4 corporate universities in teacher-to-teacher education is investigated, conclusions are drawn on the possibilities of its use in tourism-oriented universities and colleges. Results. The weighted average score of the programs was calculated taking into account three indicators. The first indicator is content correspondence to the development of entrepreneurial competencies: in colleges - 1.7 points, in classical universities - 1.66, in applied universities - 1.9. The Use of advanced pedagogical technologies indicator showed the worst average result of 1.3 (out of 3 possible) points. The breakthrough competencies in active tourism demanded in the market are the following: research competence (search and analysis of qualitative, quantitative and big data); design and creative competencies, entrepreneurial networking skills.
