The postmodern era is characterized by an avalanche-like increase in the information flow, and the following new trends characteristic of this time. This determines new changes in the psyche, both not going beyond the norm, and neurotic and psychotic spectra. From the point of view of pathological physiology, an important role is given to informational influence in the formation of psychopathology: with a high level of motivation and dissociation between the amount of time required to process information and its volume. The sociodynamic paradigm of psychiatry is mentioned, within which the questions raised are most optimal. Due to the fact that in this work the category of information occupies the first place, the purpose of this article is to show the promise of new theories about the psyche that relate to the information factor. These theories include the non-material theory of the psyche of M.M. Reshetnikov. and the network theory of mental disorders. The non-material theory of the psyche uses the argument “the brain is a biological interface” necessary to work with the “non-material”, and the network theory of psychopathology justifies the absence of the classical mechanisms of etiology-pathogenesis in mental disorders. Conclusions are made about the prospects of studying these theories and their further development and practical application.
