Prospects for the development of the dairy industry: Novosibirsk region and its place among the regions of the Siberian Federal District

The primary purpose of this study was to assess the prospects for the development of dairy industry in the Novosibirsk Region (NSO) and compare it with key indicators for this industry in other regions of the Siberian Federal District (SFD). In the course of the study, the author came to the conclusion that the first places in many indicators were alternately occupied by two regions of the Siberian Federal District - the Altai Territory and the Novosibirsk Region. Although the Altai Territory is significantly ahead of the Novosibirsk Region in key indicators such as milk production, the latter is rapidly increasing its potential. As for the number of cows, the situation is not the best in almost all the regions of the Siberian Federal District, as the number of cattle is significantly decreasing. Nevertheless, according to this indicator, the Novosibirsk Region also ranks second, significantly behind the Altai Territory. Nevertheless, the Novosibirsk region occupies a leading position in terms of dairy consumption. Production is actively developing in the region: new dairy plants for the production and processing of milk are being upgraded and built annually. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk region, hundreds of millions of rubles are allocated for these projects, which leads to a significant increase in industrial production of dairy products in the region. It is important to note that the Novosibirsk region, which has a population of almost 2.8 million people, can fully provide itself with dairy products based on standard milk consumption per capita. This is an impressive achievement. In addition to analyzing the current state, the author has identified the most sensitive factors that both positively and negatively affect the development of the dairy industry in the Novosibirsk region. He also offered a number of recommendations that can improve the industrial potential of the region. As a result of the research, the author was able to soberly assess the prospects of the dairy industry in the Novosibirsk region.
