Prospects of existence in the modern Russian criminal process of the institute of attesting witnesses under conditions of informatization

The article is devoted to the analysis of the necessity of the existence of the institution of attesting witnesses in the modern Russian criminal process in the conditions of constant informatization of society and the development of digital technologies, the negative aspects of the practice of using this institution in the production of investigative actions are given. The understanding of the institution by the legislator, theory and law enforcement practice is correlated. To substantiate the refusal of attesting witnesses, an alternative to this institution is presented in the form of using the achievements of information technology - spherical photo/video recording.
