Improving possibility summer durum wheat on the traits of “falling number”

Falling number (FN) indicates the level of activity of alpha-amylase in grain, flour, meal, included in the list of all the parameters of international quality standards and is closely linked with resistance to pre-harvest sprouting grain (PHSR). The higher the FN, the higher the estimated quality of the grain. Reducing the level of FN, hidden or visible Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is under the influence of unfavorable conditions - rainy, cool weather during grain maturation. Breeding resistant PHS grain stably retaining high values of FN grades, - the basis for way to improve emergency and PHSR. Search and identification of conditions in the Middle Volga durum wheat genotypes with high and stable values of the FN - urgent research task. This task objective of the present study. The objects of study were two groups of varieties. The first is represented by varieties of competitive variety trials Samara Agricultural Research Institute. The second group consisted of varieties of different stages of breeding in Russia and breeding lines of several laboratories from different institutions. Varieties studied in long-term experiments in conditions of Samara Research Institute for Agriculture and conditions subcontractors institutions (geographical point Kurgan, Barnaul). To determine the effects of varieties, environmental conditions and their interaction in the formation of the value of FN, two-factor analysis of variance was used. As a result of research as ainitial material in breeding for high value FN varieties offered Samara Agricultural Research Institute - 1368D-18 and Bezenchukskayazolotistaya. Among West Siberian varieties for the implementation of the directions of selection should be used Omsk corundum, Pamayaty Yanchenko, Omsk izumrud and Oasis. Considering that genotypes 1368d-18 and Bezenchuk zolotistaya include 50.0% “In Pamayaty Chekhovich” heredity varieties released in the years of testing under the Samara Agricultural Research Institute and the stability of the high values of PHS, this variety can be classified to genetic donor trait.
