The author claims that the transition to criminal proceedings in electronic form will significantly change the implementation of the protection function. There will be new opportunities associated with the electronic filing of applications, complaints and petitions throughout the criminal proceedings. In addition, electronic document management will allow all participants to attach evidence to a single digital platform without restrictions. Informing the participants of criminal procedural relations will reach a new level and will be supplemented with feedback. Copying electronic information will solve the problem of obtaining copies of the materials of the criminal case by the defense party in any volume and in unlimited time. The widespread use of remote forms of communication and the use of videoconferencing will be facilitated by the transition to video recording, where the participation of the defender, with the participation of the defendant in investigative actions, will become mandatory. All this will require increased attention to data protection, as well as the allocation of a separate channel for confidential meetings between a lawyer and A client via the Internet.
