The first program of archaeofogicaf studiesin the smofensk province

The paper deals with the Report submitted by E. N. Kletnova to the Coundlof the Moscow Archaeological Institute іп February 1919. The document contains the firstdeveloped program of archaeological studies in the Smolensk Province. Its analysis demonstrates that A. N. Fyavdansky and V. P. Tarasenko, who were E. N. Kletnova’s studentsand who performed large-scale archaeological excavations in the Smolensk Region in the1920 s, implemented this program, while the results of these explorations have retainedtheir scientific relevance even today.
