Primary disability as a result of psychic disorders in the childrenresidents of a large agricultural and industrial region

A group of 4221 children aged 0-18 years from the Altai region was examined to study main trends of primary disability due to psychic disorders. These children were considered to be disable for the first time due to psychic pathology in 2001-2005. The study results revealed that the level of primary disability due to psychic disorders in children of a large agricultural and industrial region with a large percentage of rural population increased by 2-2,5 times compared to average one of Russian Federation. The highest prevalence of primary disability due to psychic pathology was determined in age groups of 8-14 and 15-17 years. Disability level observed in rural areas is significantly higher than urban one.
