First domestic imidazolinone resistant hybrids of sunflower Image and Arimi

Sunflower hybrids of Image and Arimi were developed in the limits of breeding program for herbicide resistant plants. Hybrid Image formula is VK1-imi A (CMS PET1) × VK22-imi Rf. Hybrid Arimi formula is VK-imi A (CMS PET1) × VK21-imi Rf. A female including sterile and sterile maintainer forms and male restorers are homozygous on dominant gene Imr, which controls a trait of imidazolinone resistance. Both hybrids belong to a middle-early maturity group. The hybrids are adapted to Clearfield production technology. VNIIMK is the originator of Image and Arimi hybrids, which were put in the State trial in 2012.
