Early results of the treatment of patients with tumours in the thoracic and lumbar spine

The preliminary results of the surgical treatment of 5 patients with primary tumors of the spine, treated in the clinic of RISC "RTO" within the period of 2001 and 2002, are given in the work. CT data as well as the data of clinical, roentgenological, morphological methods have been analyzed. Operative tactics has been determined depending on the axial localization of the tumor and its transverse spreading. Radical removal of the tumor and minimal damage of the spinal cord during surgery are the main requirements. Support spondylosyndesis and stable fixation of the spine contribute to more rapid postoperative activation of patients.
