The article describes the results of the mineralogical and petrographic study of the ceramic mass of two amphorae from burial No. 381v at the cemetery of the Starokorsunskaya fortified settlement No. 2. One of them (Fig. 1: 1) has been reliably identified as the production of Knidos, the second one (Fig. 1: 2) is supposedly related to the workshops of Knidos. A detailed description of the petrographic thin sections from both vessels (Fig. 2; 3) such as basic composition, mineral inclusions, including tempering materials, as well as characteristics of the porosity of the samples, it also lists out the most likely firing temperatures. The images of the petrographic thin section of sample No. 281 clearly show the slip which was applied onto the vessel after its moulding (Fig. 3: 6). The data obtained have been compared with the available results of the earlier petrographic study of two dozens of Knidian vessels. It can be unequivocally stated that the fractional vessel (sample No. 281) is not related to the Knidian production at all. So far, the place of its production remains unknown.
