The article raises the problem of the belonging of the Russian philosopher of law P.I. Novgorodtsev to one or another philosophical trend, in particular, to the Baden school of neo-Kantianism. The authors come to the conclusion about the legitimacy of posing such a problem, as well as the problem of values in his philosophy, which goes through several stages of development in the work of the philosopher. This problem seems relevant and requires further research, which is beyond the scope of this article.
