Pigment characteristics of periphyton at lake-river systems in urbanized territories

This paper considers the distribution of various pigment characteristics of periphyton in three lake-river systems suffering from significant anthropogenic pressure and located in St.-Petersburg and Leningrad oblast. It was shown that these characteristics in some respects reflect pollution level of lakes and rivers, but some of them are uninformative and cannot be used for assessment of ecological conditions of water objects.
