Excessive drinking in Siberian provinces at the beginning of XX century (according to the data of “Sibirskie voprosy” journal)

The article studies an old problem of Russia - alcohol abuse. In Siberian provinces the problem of excessive drinking was especially acute. Hard drinking often was associated with other types of deviant behaviour, mainly criminal. Such situation called for urgent prevention measures on the part of the authorities. The author presents the qualitative characteristics of alcohol consumption in the region, compares it with the analogous figures of other regions of the Russian Empire.
