Введение. За четыре года президентства Д. Трампа отношения Соединенных Штатов со странами Латиноамериканского региона были сильно испорчены. Предвыборный план Дж. Байдена подразумевал оказание помощи странам Центральной Америки и предполагал возвращение к внешнеполитической стратегии периода президентства Б. Обамы. После победы кандидата от демократов в президентской гонке 2020 г., экспертное сообщество латиноамериканистов ожидало расширения плана Байдена и формирования новой внешнеполитической доктрины США в отношении Латинской Америки. Цель статьи - выяснить, какие ожидания были у экспертов (ученых, бывших политиков, представителей правозащитных организаций и др.) по налаживанию отношений США со странами региона в 2021 г. и насколько эти ожидания оправдались. Методы и материалы. Исследование строится на анализе мнения экспертного сообщества относительно вариантов развития латиноамериканской политики администрации Дж. Байдена и соотношения этого мнения с фактически проводимой политикой. В работе используются методы дискурс-анализа и компаративного анализа. Анализ. Отмена миграционных указов Д. Трампа новой администрацией была воспринята экспертами как позитивный сигнал к улучшению отношений США со странами Латинской Америки. Однако первые сто дней президентства показали, что Дж. Байден не намерен расширять положения своего предвыборного плана. Увеличивающийся поток нелегальных иммигрантов и возникающие в Латинской Америке локальные кризисы вынудили экспертное сообщество усомниться в возможности плана Байдена справиться с новыми вызовами.
