The article aims to analyze the reflection of the Platonic tradition in Ackroyd's novel “The Plato Papers”. The motives of the author's appeal to the image of the ancient Greek philosopher are considered, the transformation of the historical image of the philosopher in the light of Ackroyd's perception is revealed, the author's focus on the image of Socrates is also established. Such manifestations of the Platonic tradition as dialogism, utopianism, the mythology of thinking, the plasticity of images, reflected in the genre specificity, its chronotop, and mythological imagery, are also revealed in the poetics of the novel. Particular attention is paid to the image of the era of Mouldwarp, containing a projection on our contemporaneity.
