In the works of Pavel Nikolaevich Pavlov, a famous Russian historian of the 1960s-1970s, on fur trade and fur trade in Siberia in the 17th century, the issues of source study of this topic, the issues that had not previously attracted the attention of researchers, were widely reflected. He thoroughly studied customs books, customs receipt books, pokrutnye records (two of which he published), chelobitnye, leave books, price lists of fur, voevodskie and customs despatches, tsar's diplomas and orders, customs statutory diplomas and other materials, almost exclusively from archival funds. Various documents analyzed by P.N. Pavlov, which he carefully systematized, formed the basis of his works, the largest of which were the monograph “Fur trade in Siberia in the XVII century” and the textbook “Fishing colonization of Siberia in the XVII century”, which were highly appreciated by many researchers.
