The article based on the analysis of forensic and investigative practice, one of the elements of the crime mechanism is revealed - the stage of preparation for the illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors, its components are: the acquisition of seeds of narcotic plants, finding places for illegal cultivation, purchase of special tools and equipment, obtaining information aimed at achieving the planned result through the analysis of special literature, communication in closed forums and chats, watching video tutorials, determination of methods of conspiracy for the implementation of current and subsequent criminal activities.
