Preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Volgograd: plans and realities

In the article it is determined that the region’s economy is growing not only due to available raw materials, but also due to the development of the social sphere. It was found that the benchmark of the social and economic development of the region is the quality of life and the degree of satisfaction of social and cultural needs of its population. The current state of the economic system in the region is analyzed, the characteristics of macroeconomic indicators of the Volgograd region are given, including in relation to the development of social relations. It was revealed that the Volgograd region continues to be the region with the developing industry and agriculture, and judging from individual indicators is not inferior to the leaders of the Southern Federal District - Rostov Region and Krasnodar Kray. The study found that the Volgograd region and Volgograd will be one of 11 cities of Russia, which will welcome the FIFA World Cup matches in 2018.
