Adolescent and youth volunteering as a way to participate in solving socially significant issues: analysis of regional media materials

In this study, volunteering is considered as a way to involve adolescents and young people in solving socially significant issues. The purpose of the work is to identify opportunities for a teenager or young person to participate in solving socially significant issues through volunteer activities. Publications of regional mass media for the period 2000-2020 are used as empirical material. A total of 41 studys were selected. The analysis of the content of the articles was carried out in the program for qualitative analysis of MAXQDA data using the tools: “word cloud", code relationship map, code ratio matrix, etc. Analysis of the texts of the regional media showed the image of adolescent and youth volunteering as an activity that is important for the personal development of young people. However, young volunteers do not climb the ladder of R. Hart's participation higher than the fourth step, which means that when they join volunteer organizations, they begin to follow the social algorithm set by the adult organizers.
