Heroism displayed by soviet intelligent agent S. D. Gumenyk on Karelian fronts of Great Patriotic War

The article deals with a remarkable episode of the “secret war” between Soviet and Finnish intelligence services that took place on Karelian fronts during 1941-1944. A case of infiltration of the Soviet intelligence agent S. D. Gumenyuk into Petrozavodsk school of Finnish intelligence is considered. The forms and methods of the Soviet military counterintelligence training, the agent’s infiltration across the front line into the largest Petrozavodsk school of Finnish intelligence are revealed. Special attention is paid to the effective activity of the Soviet intelligence agent resulting in the frustration of a number of operations planned by the Finnish intelligence school on the Soviet home front.
