Border representation activity of the people'S republic of china at the fuyuan site in 2000

The authors examine the practically unstudied problem of the border representation activity of the PRC based on the materials of the Central Border Archive of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. The composition and activities of the border representative apparatus of the People's Republic of China in the Fuyuan direction in 2000 is analyzed. When border representation activities were conducted in 2000 the situation in the Fuyuan direction was complicated by the aggravation of the issue of the ownership of the islands of Bolshoy Ussuriysky and Tarabarov, attempts to violate the state border regime in the context of the completion of the demarcation of the Russian-Chinese section of the border on its Eastern part. The main efforts in the border representation of the PRC in the Fuyuan section were aimed at maintaining the situation of good-neighborliness and stability on the Chinese-Russian border, preventing and timely resolving border incidents, monitoring the exact implementation of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, protecting political, economic, military and other interests of the PRC on the state border.
