Burial and funeral business in the period from the Christianization of Russia to the 1990s: historical and legal aspect

The problems associated with the burial of the bodies of the dead have faced a person, and subsequently the state, throughout the history of human development. In a civilized society, burial traditions and burial methods have repeatedly changed. The article considers the historical stages of the evolution of burial in our country: the transition from profane rites to religious, and then to secular ones. The legal regulation of the funeral business also changed: from the predominance of church rules in the organization of burial, placement and arrangement of cemeteries, to the appearance of urban planning and sanitary norms and rules for the placement of cemeteries.
