The elite of the Bosporan Kingdom of the Roman period is rather well knowndue to numerous epigraphic monuments. There are a lot of books and publications onthis issue focused on discussions of the composition of the elite, the hierarchy of the toppositions in the state, and definition of their functions. Regarding the Bosporan Kingdomof the Roman period, no special publications are available, and there is a need to definekey indications of a high status of various burial assemblages. Relying on the analysisof publications by M. I. Rostovtseff (1925), V. F. Gaidukevich (1949), G. A. Tsvetaeva(1951; 1957), I. P. Zasetskaya (1993), the author has singled out a number of key factorsthat attribute archaeological assemblages to the elite graves of the Bosporan Kingdom ofthe Roman period and the Migration period.
