Poetry in intermissions and ivertissements of the imperial scene

The article is devoted to a little-known topic of performance in the first half of the XIX century in intermissions and divertissements of poetry in the imperial theaters. The poems were performed as performances - in the scenery, make-up and costume, specially written music was used. The performance of the poems revealed differences in two performing traditions, Moscow and St. Petersburg. With the spread of public readings, performances by artists of the imperial theaters gradually shifted to a concert stage.
