Indicators of the cytokine profile in children with erosive-ulcer lesions of the gastrointestinal and duodenum

The incidence of erosive and ulcerative lesions (EUI) of the stomach and duodenum in children in recent years has a high prevalence and the trend towards their growth continues. Despite numerous scientific studies, many questions remain unsolved, including the prevention of relapses and the chronicity of the process. In this regard, the aim of the study was to study the cytokine profile in children with erosive-ulcer lesions of the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum. 167 children with EUP (main group) and 50 children with functional disorders of the digestive system (control group) were examined. All children underwent a blood serum test for pro- and anti-inflammatory interleukins - IL1, 4, 6 and TNF. As a result of the study, it was found that the children of the main group showed an increase in all groups of cytokines before treatment, in contrast to the control group, where all indicators were within the normal range. In addition, in 26.9-37.1% of patients of the main group, the level of interleukins remained elevated after treatment. Conclusions: the change in the cytokine profile in dynamics is of great prognostic value for the study of inflammatory and degenerative processes in the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum and reflects the effectiveness of the treatment.
