The article presents an overview of the current state of retail trade in Russia on the basis of a number of indicators and indicators of its development, including the turnover of market trade, changes in the number of business entities, the index of entrepreneurial confidence, the distribution of the retail market by the main formats of trade. The analysis of key indicators of retail trade development made it possible to identify the most important factors affecting the functioning of the sphere under consideration, as well as the problems of modern trade organizations.
