Generation Z and educational practices: problem statement

The article describes the basis for the analysis of the relationship between sociocultural and psychological characteristics of modern older adolescents (regarded as representatives of the Z generation) and trends in Russian educational practice. It is emphasized that such an analysis requires theoretical and empirical studies of the characteristics attributed to the Z generation in school everyday life, as well as the analysis of the relevance of teachers' activities in accordance to these features. The sociological and cultural approaches to the analysis of the phenomenon of generations are analyzed, theories of N. Hove and V. Strauss are presented and problematised. The hypothetical descriptions of the features of the Z generation are summarized, the issues of further research of the identified phenomena are defined.
