Polystylistics, synthesis and metaphorization: art of the novel of the second half of the twentieth century and the scientific method of Valery Pesterev

This article is devoted to the review of the scientific activity of ProfessorV.A. Pesterev, who devoted his life to the study of the novel of the second half of the XX - beginning of the XXI centuries. The main directions of V.A. Pesterev’s scientific thought about the art of the novel are highlighted, and the special place of the scientist’s works in literary studies and criticism of the turn of the XX-XXI centuries is noted.
