The present article reviews research on the reflection of the issue of prostitution in the policy of shaping the identity and image of the European Union (using Germany as an example) and assesses the role of non-profit organizations in its development and regulation. It is emphasized that the structures fighting for the welfare of women engaged in prostitution fall into two large groups, depending on their stance on the phenomenon in question: liberals, who recognize this type of income as an individual's free choice, and abolitionists, whose main goal is to eradicate prostitution as a phenomenon, since women engaged in this field are victims of contradictions and unfair distribution of the benefits of the patriarchal-capitalist world order. The final chapter discusses the way this contradictory philosophy is reflected in the definition of the identity of the European Union politics and its political activities in the international arena.
