Political picture of the world in the political decision-making process

The consequences of political decisions are in direct dependence on the target and value attitudes of the actors making them. The political picture of the world, as a set of images and perceptions of ongoing political situations and events, can act as an analytical matrix about the motives, intentions and value-rational intents of political subjects and actors. The aim of the article is to consider the theoretical aspects explaining the subjective structural parameters of the political picture of the world as a concept underlying political decision-making. The main research objectives are: historical analysis of the concept of “political picture of the world”, as well as a comparative analysis of theoretical approaches to the study of the role of political pictures of the world in the decision-making process. As a methodological basis we have chosen: the theory of action, behavioral approach, structural-functional analysis and the theory of communicative action. In the decision-making process, the political picture of the world, on the one hand, manifests itself as an interpretive model for comprehending the ongoing political events, and, on the other hand, is itself an object of analysis for political decision-makers. The interactions of political worldviews in the decision-making process are carried out through strategic, normative and communicative actions, which have the potential to prevent conflicting clashes of different worldviews, in fact, fulfilling the functions of a compensatory mechanism.
