The political exile and the repressive machinery in the European north-east of the Russian empire in the beginning of XX century

The article is devoted to the history of the political exile in the European northeast of the country in the beginning of ХХ century. The author analyzes the relations between the exiled and the native population, throws light upon the political activity of the exiled in the region and the reaction of the law enforcement community.
