Political Islam in Egypt: the causes of the defeat of «Muslim brotherhood» and Mohammed Mursi

At the beginning of the 2011 Egypt faced the revolutionary wave that had begun in Tunisia in the 2010s and was called Arab Spring. As a result, the Muslim Brotherhood came to power. This organization was forbidden during the Hosni Mubarak governance. The paper attempts clarifying the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, demonstrates their role in the revolution of January and February of the 2011 and analyzes the main reasons of their defeat in the revolution.
