Political participation in the context of classical scientific approaches and modern concepts

The author attempts to systematize scientific approaches and conceptual provisions that substantiate the essence, content and main forms of non-professional activities of citizens in the field of politics. The paper considers the features of formation and manifestation of the phenomenon of political participation in the context of transformational processes. The author proposes the own understanding of this phenomenon and highlights the most common types of relevant citizen activities in the political sphere.
