Policy of central and local authorities for the restoration and reconstruction of the fishing industry in Dagestan during the 1920s and 1930s of the ХХ century

The article, drawing on a diverse array of sources, examines the efforts undertaken by both central and local Soviet power, as well as labor collectives and military units, in the restoration and reconstruction of fisheries and the fishing industry in Dagestan during the 1920s and 1930s of the XX century. The fishing industry represented a complex sector of the national economy, encompassing not only the extraction and processing of fish and seafood but also shipbuilding and repair, the manufacture of fishing gear and weapons, construction, as well as canning and cooperage production. Particular attention is paid to the Dagestani State Fishery Trust, whose activities were integral to the revival of herring and redfish-fishing practices in the republic, as well as the fundamental reorganization of the management system governing the fishing industry. The author endeavors to elucidate the significance of financial investments from the Soviet government in facilitating the restoration, reconstruction, and capital construction of the fishery in the specified chronological framework.
