Policy of king James II Stuart in Ireland, 1686-1688

The purpose of the article is to determine the concept of the policy of British monarch James II Stuart in Ireland. The author makes an attempt to determine the principal steps of James II and channels of Crown’s influence on the political, social, religious and economical situation in Ireland. The author analyses the role of Lord Deputy of Ireland Earl of Tyrconnel in forming of James II’s policy and makes an attempt to estimate the scale and results of this reforms for Ireland. Author analysises main components of the London’s policy in “Green Island” so as social, economical and political conditions of James II’s reforms. Author concludes that earl of Tyrconnel had a determined role in Crown’s policy of Ireland in 1685-1688. British monarch reorganized political system and social structure of Ireland so as first from the English invasion gave to Irish Catholics government and army whose aim was to protect the rights and interests of native Irish.
