Цель статьи - раскрытие сути политики британского монарха Якова II Стюарта в Ирландии. Автором предпринимается попытка установить, как влияла корона на политическую, социальную, религиозную и экономическую ситуацию в Ирландии, определить роль лорда-наместника графа Тирконнела в формировании ирландской политики Якова II и оценить масштабы и значение проводимых реформ для ирландского королевства. Проведенное исследование показывает, что определяющую роль в политике короны по отношению к Ирландии в 1685-1688 гг. играл граф Тирконнел.
