The article reviews the current state of media industry in the United Arab Emirates and tendencies of its further development under the specific political and legal circumstances of media business development in the country by studying the case of a free economic zone “Dubai Media City", which transformed into the regional centre of information agencies’ location. The author describes the peculiarities of mass media system in the UAE, the functioning of which is determined by the political control and the attractive conditions for foreign investments.
