The article presents the results of a study of the content and role of the political and psychological context of the expansion of the political space of the Russian Federation using the example of new regions. The relevance of the research is determined by the large-scale and multilevel changes in Russia’s political space and the need to implement an effective policy for the development of new regions. The aim of the study is to identify the content of the political and psychological political processes that make up the context of the development of new regions of the Russian Federation and their impact on the processes of political integration. The theoretical basis of the research is an integrative model that combines the ideas of economic, spatial, and political-psychological approaches to analyze multilevel social and political-psychological processes in the context of expanding political space. Three types of political and psychological processes that make up the context of the expansion of the political space of the Russian Federation are identified: political socialization, political adaptation and political re-socialization. The results obtained allow us to take a number of steps to identify socio-cultural and psychological barriers to the integration of new regions into the Russian Federation.
