Political, religious and economic factors of puritan migration to North America

The author presents an original interpretation of the reasons responsible for Puritans' immigration to North America from the first third of the XVII century onwards. The origin and transformation of the meaning of "Puritanism" term are discussed. The article describes in detail economic, political and religious factors of Puritan migration from England to North America. It is concluded that it is necessary to consider comprehensively the aforesaid reasons when studying the history of Puritanism.
