Th e article discusses issues related to the state and prospects of development of international tourism in the postpandemic period and unprecedented aggravation of international relations since the end of World War II. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign sources, the authors conclude that the global tourism industry is in a deep protracted crisis. Th e paper attempts to identify the reasons that prevent the industry from emerging from the crisis state. One of them, according to the authors, is the adoption by the collective West of a number of sanctions and discriminatory measures against Russia, which directly aff ect the interests of ordinary citizens. Considering international tourism as a special social and humanitarian activity designed to bring states and peoples closer together, the authors justify the inadmissibility of its politicization and transformation into a means of political pressure of some states on others. Th e conclusion of the article contains conclusions and suggestions which, according to the authors, can contribute to bringing the international tourism industry to the prepandemic level.
