The article is concerned with the powers of the Head of Inquiry Division and the status of the inquiry officer. The author discusses the search for new approaches to the implementation of institutional control over the activities of the inquiry officer to guarantee the constitutional rights and legitimate interests of criminal proceedings’ participants.
