The article notes that during the Soviet era, religious education in Kyrgyzstan became more complicated. In Soviet times, not only was religious education limited, but other religious rites were strictly prohibited. However, despite the harsh atheistic regime of the Soviet era, the “religious feeling” among the people gradually continued its mission. Although religious education was not open, those who wanted to eliminate religious literacy received secret education. Some traveled to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan for religious education. In the first two difficult years of the Great Patriotic War, the attitude towards religion in the USSR began to change. The policy of militant atheism was replaced by religious tolerance. During this period, there was a revival of Islam in Central Asia, in which the Uzbek Babakhanov family played an important role.
