The article discusses several methods for obtaining olefin monomers from various raw materials, including natural gas. Two-stage periodic and one-stage continuous methods for the oxidative dimerization of methane have been developed. For the dimerization of methane according to the two-stage scheme, the following selective catalysts were chosen: NaMnO4 / MgO-SiO2 and Mn3O4 / SiO2. The yield of C2 hydrocarbons on these systems at 1073 K was 13-15%. Under laboratory conditions, thermal dehydrogenation of propane was carried out at a temperature of ~ 873 K, atmospheric pressure, and contact time of 2.7 s. At the same time reached the conversion of propane ~ 25% (wt.).
