The article analyzes the dynamics of gypsy moth distribution and abundance for the period from 1963 to 2017. The quantitative estimates of the correlation between the changes in hydrothermal conditions and the development of the outbreaks of gypsy moths population boom are given. We have determined the climate-related preconditions for range expansion of this pest of coniferous and deciduous trees in Buryatia, and established its limits. Until recently, the northern border of gypsy moth distribution in Buryatia approximately was 520 northern latitudes. It has been noted that at the present moment (2017), the dispersion of gypsy moth to the north, up to the Barguzin depression is observed.
