Concept and signs of information service as a civil category

The article considers the concept and signs of information services, the procedures and the principles of their rendering. The author determines that the information service is both an economic and a civil category and possesses an integrated economic and legal content. The analysis of regulations, various authors' opinions, allows to make the conclusion, that legal context of the concept «information service» is broader than the economic one. It is revealed that information as a civil category can participate in civil turnover in the form of rendering information services or protected results of intellectual activity (intellectual property), providing observance of some requirements fixed in the Federal Law «On information, information technologies and information security». The author gives the definition of information service that possesses some general signs as a service in general, and some special signs as a kind of information.
