The concept of reliability of road structures

For many years, specialists in the road industry have been engaged in improving the development of theoretical and practical issues of improving the quality of highways. The greatest attention is traditionally paid to the reliability and operability of road clothes. As a result of a number of clarifications, many provisions of this theory were introduced into the regulatory and technical documentation setting out the algorithm and methodology for the construction and design of road structures. However, in recent years, for a number of reasons, publications devoted to the reliable operation of highways do not fully provide a unified understanding of the concept of "reliability" by specialists in the road industry. While this aspect is one of the important conditions for solving any technical problem. In this regard, this paper examines the main provisions of the theoretical essence of reliability in the context of road construction, and also emphasizes the importance of understanding and taking into account all factors affecting the condition of road structures in order to create safe and comfortable traffic conditions.
