This article is devoted to the concept of guilt in Russian criminal law. The institute of guilt has gone through a long path of transformation in its development. Undoubtedly, a rare decision of a law enforcement officer does without recourse to the form of guilt. The picture has hardly changed since the Soviet era. Russian criminal law, following the Soviet one, does not contain a definition of guilt. The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has traditionally defined guilt by disclosing its specific forms. It is curious that the definitions of intent and negligence, which have been developed and preserved in criminal law for decades, were created back in the 20s of the last century, when the denial of the concept of guilt became more and more popular, and even extreme views were expressed that it was necessary to abandon the concepts of intent and negligence.
