Cognitive and conceptual metaphor in Russian linguistics in early period of cognitive lisnguistics

The article discusses the use of the terms «cognitive metaphor» and «conceptual metaphor» in the last decades of the 20 th century in Russian and American linguistics. It argues that the terms had quite different meanings in Russia and abroad.
