Order or democracy?

Posing the question "Order or democracy?" in itself can seem strange to a reader. Why "or", indeed? Does one exclude the other? Does democracy oppose to the order? Or is the order only possible on the assumption of undemocratic political regime? By no means. Still, sociologists keep on asking respondents which is more important for them, order or democracy, as well as what sense they attach to this notion, how they asses the ratio between order and democracy. The results of the sociological public opinion polls seem very interesting, giving grounds for thinking and making generalizations. The article calls the readers' attention to analysis of the Russians' opinions on this essential problem.
